Since heterosexual marriages are such a dismal failure, evidenced by the high rate of divorce, and multiple divorces, and the USA population rejection of religious teachings on this matter, I don't feel compelled to want to block homosexual men and lesbians from trying to make it work for them. If as you say, there are sufficient protections afforded by civil unions and/or common law marriages ... maybe we should just abolish marriage altogether given it's failure rate.

There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said over and over again in a 46 page thread, so I'll just put this here and let you all chew on it for a while.

I totally agree with both your statements, but most especially, the second one.

Can YOU explain what YOU'RE talking about?

As evidenced by your many rambling, nonsensical posts, you can't.

FYI, rape is more about control and humiliation than it is about sex. Rapists are pathetic, emotionally stunted, powerless little **** ants who feel the need to subjugate women and objectify them. But your Christian philosophy approves of that doesn't it?

I'm well aware that other cultures and religions practice polygamy.

Should someone from one of these cultures, who is a legal resident of this country be allowed to practice polygamy! Sure, if and when it becomes legal.

Should an immigrant, with a recognized polygamous marriage in another country, be allowed to keep all of his wives? I see no reason not to allow it, although I would not allow any further marriages. It's kind of a slippery slope and I don't have a legal background. I would expect my marriage to be recognized as valid if I immigrated somewhere else though.
