Funny how conservatives tend to use the phrase "ramming...down throat" when protesting gay issues.
I've noticed the same phrase used when liberal atheists complain about Christians wanting something like a manger scene in the town square at Christmas.

Works both ways.
You don't hear us complaining about the Christmas display at Target though, do you.

Actually it doesn't. One situation brings up Constitutional law issues, the other doesn't.
As a theist myself, I don't understand the obsession with having to have public religious displays and prayer. Religion is supposed to be very personal, not a commercial billboard everywhere you go.
Even Jesus said not to pray in public. But then, how many Conservatives actually follow his teachings? Not many I've dealt with.

I was referring to the phrase, "ramming it down our throats". I've seen that one used a number of times on this forum in reference to displays of religion.
But I don't see Christmas displays as being about "praying". I see them as a celebration of the season.

Christmas is a commercial pagan celebration. Not sure why Conservative Christians are so gung ho about that.
The Jewish holidays would make more sense, seeing as that's what Jesus and the Apostles would have celebrated.

Even though the early Christian Church usurped the winter soltice holiday and replaced it with Christmas, hundreds of generations of Christians would disagree that they are celebrating a pagan holiday.

A lot of them also don't know the origin of all things Christmas. I think you overestimate the knowledge of your typical American Christian. Just based on this board, the complete lack of understanding of the Bible makes it quite telling how ill informed they are.

They generally don't know much about the history of their religion. I'm not "one of them" and I know more about it than most of them. To most Christians I know today, Christmas is celebrated as the birth of Jesus. That it was originally a pagan holiday is either immaterial or they don't realize that it was.

Too bad they didn't have the internets back then. The pagans could have gone on C-D to complain about the "Christian war on the winter solstice celebration"
