When I heard Willard (thinks his name is Mitt) Romney insult the fine city of Cambridge Massachusetts by claiming their public schools were in the bottom ten I knew something was off. So I decided to check it out

The results of The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) are below. Students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin, the Cambridge High School, scored an 83 in english, 78 in math, and 62 in science, out of 100.

In english the 10 bottom scores were 21, 25, 30, 32, 34, 39, 40, 41, 43, and 44. In math 0, 8, 12, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 25, and 26. In science 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 17. Not even close to 83, 78, and 62.

Does anybody know how to read the rankings here? The rankings for Cambridge Rindge and Latin are 232, 181, and 224 in english, math, and science out of 355, 358, and 346 but the numbers are weird because it skips from 1 to 12 and then to 21 for some reason. What happened second place and third place etc.

They have to be better than states that have high illegal alien populations, where no child left behind, has been a disaster for children of those here legally and the actual citizens of this nation.

Cambridge is one of the most liberal cities in one of the most liberal states. It was one of the two places where the scumbag George Bush (the father) saw fit to insult every single man woman and child and he's never apologized. The other one was Brookline. He said they were unamerican and when one of his campaign aids tried to do a little damage control and say that he was talking about the cities Bush responded that no, he was talking about the people

This was during the 1988 campaign.

Cambridge has a very liberal, educated population, yes. It has plenty of wealthy yuppies, but most people are not there to raise a family. There is still a great deal of low income people with inner city problems there that no one hears or talks about. So as a native of MA, this is not a shock.

As a graduate of CRLS those scores really don't surprise me at all. There is such a variable range in the education there, and it all depends on who you get as a teacher.
