THIS is why (thankfully) the founding fathers inserted the establishment clause into the constitution. No book should ever be banned.

Read on thru to the end verse 14 and what happens to the enemies of Israel.

DAMASCUS is the oldest inhabited city in the world soon to be a pile of rubble with all those poor children being slaughtered by a evil man and the nations clamoring for war.

Hope and Change is coming but not from Barack Obama.
Yep, I was wondering when and how someone would interject nasty politics into the thread. Ha, and from someone quoting the bible, no less.

I don't mind when folks quote the bible to me, I can hold my own on that and quote them right back. However, when they start shoving their entire religion under the "it's the only TRUE religion" or "you can only be saved by accepting Jesus Christ," they've crossed the line for me.

Regardless of whether you are a Christian or not, the Bible is full of wisdom. There are many other sources of wisdom as well, but the parables are very instructive. I don't think anyone cares what you believe or not, they are more concerned with what they believe. You can, and must, choose to do what you think is right with your life; that is why we have free will.

And stupidity. But it is the latter that the loud mouth Christians run around with and not the former.

The bible is a book and books contain stories. Therefore, the bible is a story and has no bearing on any political issue whatsoever.

We live under the Constitution, not some archaic bible.

my favorite thing about the bible is the circular logic supporting its importance.

"The Bible is inspired by the true word of God so it can't be questioned."
"Says who?"
"The Bible."

Reminds me of something my mother had in her house.

"Rule number 1. The mother is always right. Rule number 2. When mother is wrong, see rule number 1."

The problem with the bible is that it contradicts itself. Not just once or twice, but on numerous times.

Its really quite silly. I like the bible, it has a lot of really good messages. If there is a God, or my concept of what God is, his words are contained within the chapters of the bible. But that doesn't mean that every word, or even most came from God. The same rules of what I'd call God are in all holy books, and they are things that people are born knowing is wrong.

You apparently cannot distinguish between opinion and advocacy.

Advocacy stems from opinion.
