Veteran Upset Over Store Selling American Flag Doormats (elect, California, working)

Can't bring myself to defend a symbol, especially when the act of wiping your feet on an American flag doormat may or may not be a symbol itself of disrespect. I tell you honestly, I have some family members who wouldn't have thought twice about buying one and are extremely patriotic.
LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– One local veteran wants a local hardware chain to stop selling doormats with the American flag on them. He believes the mats are disrespectful to the flag that he and many others have fought to defend.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday evening, the doormats have been removed from the sales floor at the Lake St. Louis location of Lowe’s.
Sounds like at last one Vet needs to get a life. Putting an Amercan flag doormat down is nothing but displaying their patriotism, it is all about intent, if the vet does not want one then he does not need to buy one. Jeeeez people, get a grip.
According to the US Flag Code it's disrespectful to wear clothing with a flag on it. I cringe every time I see someone wearing a shirt that looks like the flag. (Stars on the right shoulder and and stripes everywhere else.)
You can buy underwear with the flag on it. Don't forget Southwest Airlines pilots wear a tie that is the design of the U.S. flag.
There is a big difference between putting a flag on the ground and having a doormat with a picture of the flag. Just like wearing clothes that look like the flag and actually putting a flag on you. People need to get a life and quit harping on stupid things.

I know it is how one views the American Flag. I know people who have American Flag decorations all over the home, from glasses, to dinnerware, to decor items, to floor mats, door mats, to rugs to clocks, to picture frames etc.
They are proud of these items, even the door mat. They look at it differently, they find patriotism, in all American Flag decor.
They have been around a very long time, the door mats. I honestly do not beleive they mean any disrespect to the patriotism of the American Flag. I don't think that some view stepping on the door mat, is evil or bad. Some i think, find the American Flag Sympbol in itself, entering upon one's home, is very welcoming and nothing more.
People today, are very sensitive to some things, that years, ago, we would not even think badly about.
What i find more disgusting then entering one's home and being welcome by an American Flag door Mat, is those who burn it, and people have no problem with that at all!
