I don't think he promised to outlaw lobbyists but that he wouldn't hire lobbyists for his administration unless some conditions were met. That being said, if you feel lobbying isn't bad in anyway, and certainly not corrupting, why are you making it an issue?

Bribery/Lobbying is like pornogrpahy: you know it when you see it.

The problem is that one would be hard pressed to find a person in Washgington with a moral compass which moves the needle. It is pretty clear when someone shows up with an envelope full of cash, an offer to use a vacation home or an airplane, a campaign contribution, or a promise to 'smooth the way' for any sort of project that the intended objective is to sway the politicians vote. To pretend otherwise is naiive. Somehow the great unwashed can clearly see this as influence peddling, but the trained lawyers who supposedly represent 'us' in DC find it all to be very grey. Maybe that's because the dollars invariably end up in their pockets...

The line between lobbying and prostitution is also a very thin one, in fact it is near-nonexistent.

Lobbying is "legalized" bribery and ought to banned.

Did voting yes say that I didn't find lobbying bad? Well I sure voted in the majority so maybe I may well feel that it is corrupting. I am making it an issue because The One sure as hell did say that the lobbyists might as well go home.

I'd be more concerned with the guys who have sole control of passing legislation.

It is the ethics of the elected representatives that need to be revisted.

Lobbying is legal. Problem is lawyers and judges twist, turn, spin, appeal, interpret and reverse legislation to a point where no one knows if someone violated lobbying laws for several years pending appeal.

Isn't the guy who had 90K in his freezer still in office. Rangel censured and still in office. Hey a tax cheat heads the IRS. Runner up to sec of treas, Gov/Sen Jon Corzine was the go to guy for Biden and Obama. JC's future is in doubt.

Nope, the problem isn't lobbyists, it is their lawyers and our legislators.

When the money is driving force for this political system as even Ginglich painfully realized, what is the essential difference between lobby and bribery? You need to have "real money" to lobby. Say, can I just use my 44 cent US postal stampped letter to "lobby" any politician?
As a poster said, lobby is legalized bribery. This is sheer shame of a " democracy".
