Keeping people from voting would be an infringement on the Voting Rights act....insuring it's integrity and keeping it free of FRAUD is something that should be EXPECTED and WANTED to insure that this process....the only one we have to insure that the majority has their say....keeps it's integrity.

Funny...the democrats were SHOUTING voter fraud in the 2000 and 2008 elections when Bush defeated those idiots algore and john kerry...but since keeping the system as it is would benefit obama...they don't want it changed. What a bunch of ignorant hypocrites.

The problem in Florida is the RWNJ's insistence in purging LEGITIMATE voters from the voter lists.

Voting in this country is a RIGHT & a PRIVELEGE. It is something we do to make it known what the intention of the majority is. having that process hijacked and the will of the majority compromised is NOT acceptable. Only a person completely void of intelligence would defend NOT putting checks in place to insure the integrity of the process. Congrats.
Voter fraud isn't a problem. Look at the DOJ stats on voter fraud. And then for the cases that fall under voter fraud, look at the reason listed for the illegal ballot. VF is a red herring put up by Republicans as a smoke screen to cut the minority turn out for the general election.

Case in point, NO Republican primary had the same voter ID restrictions that they were proposing for the general election.

"should be"???...........the law is specific.

It is what it is. You should read it. Btw, Florida hasn't had a Democratic governor since Lawton Chiles died in 1998.

Can we just go ahead and declare Holder & Obama as the worst AG/POTUS combo in our nation's history?

155 days till we get rid of these race-baiting charlatans.

Just because the results are so many Hispanics doesn't imply discrimination.

Greg, Florida has been asking for access to a Homeland security database for 9 months now and they have been denied by the DOJ. Why is the Obama administration throwing these eligible voters under the bus?

The practice of using driver's license data bases to purge voters TARGETS mainly minorities who tend to be recent immigrants to the country and who came as legal residents and then became citizens of the USA when they became eligible. But because the driver's license place shows them only as legal residents, they would be purged from the voter rolls even though they are now citizens and entitled to vote. The state of Florida is not requiring EVERYBODY to show a birth certificate, passport or citizenship certificate to vote. If they did, the majority (white) population there would go ballastic.
Number two, it is ILLEGAL. Once a voter is purged, there is no easy way for the voter to be reinstated. It is hard. If the state REALLY intended the law to only purge the rolls of non citizens, then the law would allow the citizen to present their passport at the POLLING PLACE on election day and reinstate the voter and allow them to vote which they are LEGALLY entitled to do. But the law states the voter must appear miles away at a county elections office and wait in hours long lines to get "approved" to vote which they are LEGALLY and Constitutionally entitled to do. The purpose of the law is to harass the voter in hopes they will just say "fk it" and go home.
But they have 30 days from the date they are notified to fix it.

There is 180K people Florida has identified as potentially registered to vote illegally, that is why the DOJ is not giving them access to the data they requested. While it may of helped remove these citizens falsely identified the list of those positively identified will explode. As history tells us even 500 votes makes a difference.

You mean the same Florida in charge of this debacle: Florida Central Voter File - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One county made an effort to verify each name that was listed for their county. Their findings? Only 5% of the claimed voters were actually legit. FIVE. PERCENT.
