I am so sick of hearing the whining over false, incorrect and twisted facts from the Catholic Church and their supporters. I want to address only 2 examples of what I am talking about (although there are many more).

A) The Catholic Church was denied the contract with the federal government because of the morals and values it has on not providing abortion. Please see link below. The victims of human trafficking are many times young girls, raped by family members and adults. Common sense says that abortion in some cases does need to be on the table in some of these instances. Because the Church refuses to do ANY abortions it was denied the latest renewal of the contract.

A similar example and hypothetical is a Hindu based company getting a contract to serve the military meals. Most in the Hindu religion do not believe in eating meat. So by the Catholic standard, the Hindu based company should be allowed to only serve non-meat meals to our military because that is within their values and morals. If the Hindu based company is denied it should whine and complain (like the Catholics) that it is discrimination based on religion.

The simple fact is the Catholic Church refused to do the job and as such was not awarded the contract. You have your values and morals on abortion..fine! But those morals and values are not everyones just as is the case with the Hindu example.

B) Illinois Catholic Charities were forced out of business by the State of IL. This is false. The State of IL contracted Catholic Charities to provide adoptions. When the church refused to provide adoption services to gay/lesbian couples the funding from the State was taken away. Let me be clear on this point though. The Church and its Charities could still adopt on their own and discriminate against gays/lesbians. They just would not get the state funds.

I am just so sick of the misinformation by these people.
