If you are of the opinion that homosexuals are of less value and do not deserve the same rights that you (assuming you are heterosexual) have, then that is far more than disagreement...If the shoe fits.... You decide.

We don't know what the OP has been through. That's very callous to say: grow a thicker skin.
But I do think that racism and homophobia go together. People who don't have a problem with race tend to be a understanding of homophobia, too, but maybe the OP's experience has proven otherwise.
As someone old enough to remember the "consciousness raising" part of the early "women's liberation movement" (as it was called then), when I say "claim your power" I mean exactly that. That is what the early feminist movement was all about--claiming one's personal power--before it was co-opted by the militant army of lesbians and heterosexual women who hated men and started blaming them for all the ills that beset women in the marketplace. Anyone who has succumbed to put downs regarding their race or sexual orientation, is in great need of "reclaiming their power". A short post on an internet forum is not going to make any great changes in anyone's attitude but anyone who feels disempowered by the onslaughts of racism and homophobia they have experienced needs to learn to lift themselves above being negatively affected by that. The taunts and put downs are not going to stop, leaving "rising above it" as the only alternative.
Stupid right wing people live in a closed world where religion and bigotry are the only things they're exposed to, they don't open books or watch documentaries (unless Sarah Palin is in it) or travel much outside where they live. They think the entire world should be exactly like their small town/exurb. Anything different from what other people think is wrong. In short, thinking for yourself is the greatest sin a conservative person can commit.
Why is it OK (at least according to some on this forum) to call gay people various names such as abnormal, deviant, perverse, abhorrent, drug-abusing pedophiles?
You mean like the word, "GAY". I'm just reading a book written in the 50's. The author discribes a character as "gay". It surely does not mean homosexual. It annoys me that this group of people have hijacked a perfectly good English word that had a definition of "Happy" for centuries to discribe a sexual perversion.
Being attracted to the same sex is a sexual perversion? How so? Why do Conservatives always reduce everything down to sex? Obsessed much?

Jeez, what is this a word jumble puzzle?...Try again and you might at least use spell check.
Homophobic is such an over used childish word, anyone who disagrees with a Homosexual is a Homophobe, I see my 10 year old Niece use the same tactics with the word hater. Homosexuals love calling people names and playing the victim.
So do Conservative "Christians" as we see daily on this board. No one has mastered the "playing the victim" card more than Fundies and Evangelicals.
