Yes. Loving v. Virginia set the precedence that made interracial marriage valid - or, if you reallly want to split hairs, anti-miscegation laws invalid - nationally. That's sorta what Supreme Courts decision do.
Defined as written legislature? No change. But under the US system case law is also law, and that means L v. V changed the legal definition of marriage, on a national level.
It's not really a matter of opinion. Before L v. V, states could pass laws defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman of the same race. Afterwards, not so much.
There was no national law that said marriage was between a white man and a white woman. That's my point. It varied from state to state on how much racial restriction was made. That was made clear in both the article that I posted and the one that the other one posted. All that court case did was made restricting marriage by race illegal for all states, but that didn't mean all states had those restrictions.
That is real big of you to dismiss how big the lgbt community is. But you might be a bit off. When asked Americans think the number is closer to 25%. http://www.gallup.com/poll/147824/ad...y-lesbian.aspx
And in a society where gays were not abused and ridiculed that number would surely be higher.

You already have to right to engage in a public ceremony at at an alternative church of your choosing. But understand that Christians don't appreciate when some of you try to change the institution of marriage just to accommodate your selfish desire to receive more government benefits, with no regard for how any other person or thing is affected or harmed in the process.
As long as you get what YOU want, that is all that seems to matter.
Don't expect any thoughtful and intelligent person to respect that.
They are in it for the benefits that are tax subsidized not different than siphoning off welfare. I don't my taxes to support their filthy perverted lifestyle.
What benefits? What more do they get from the government that your taxes are paying for?
How would your taxes support their lifestyle?
The attitudes I have read here (and all the biased disinformation) is very sad. All those anti-gay posters all stand behind thier 'it's wrong' argument....fine....but it is also wrong to drink beer if you are under age....how many posters here went to keg parties in high school and got tanked....? Likely close to 90% perhaps more....that's wrong. So should we stop selling beer?
To each thier own...what one's opinion of wrong is different than another's.
What is not wrong is allowing people to live their lives as they choose to as long as it does not harm anyone....
And I also wait for an answer as to who would be hurt by allowing same sex marriage.
As for the Christian argument in marriage- marriage has been happening for longer than Christianity has been around. Marriage has been going on in other countries with different religions. The US is a mix of people; heritage, religion, sexual orientation....we all want what we want and some of what we want goes against what others believe to be right...be it by simple opinion or by religious belief...We cannot live in a world were everyone is 'happy' with the rules.
All you can do is let it go.... Live YOUR life the way YOU see fit and leave the rest alone.

Yeah I'm sure it's more like 50% are gay right? Gimme a break. I'd say it's more like 2-4%.
That is all you could come up with? I hope you didn't take too long finding that. Pathetic as your posts.
About 2 seconds.
The poster is acting like the Pharisees that Jesus castigated in Matthew 23.
Or how about:
Matthew 22:36
Jesus said the two greatest commandments are:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself'
Go play bible quotes with somebody else. Your beyond ridiculous now. You are just a hypocrite as I've shown prior in this thread. Why not just admit it? Or you can continue to play your games like usual.
