This is pretty basic legal stuff guys. Knowingly putting a partner at risk can not only generate civil liability but in the cases of HIV can lead to felony legal troubles. (and has)

However, most of the time the offender has insufficient assets to make ti worthwhile to sue them hence why this guy was sued, he has enough money to make it worth a lawyers while to take the case and also they must have had sufficient information proving he'd not been honest about his disease. Maybe he apologized to her via email etc. Otherwise he could claim he told her or other lies etc.

If I sell you something and lie about it's condition etc. you would likely want some sort of compensation now wouldn't you?

In what bizzaro world does decades of established civil law suddenly become some sort of partisan issue and the fault of "liberals"?

You have no idea what my opinion has been over the years. Your dismissive attitude is dismissed.

The article does not state this. It say that she was "overcame" before she could do anything about it.

All the more reason for this to be a criminal manner. Her lawyer states that this man is dangerous and I would agree. Again, a criminal matter.

If a prostitute contracted herpes from a client, what are the chance that the prostitute could sue and win a case against the client?

If the guy has assets and admits to knowingly having herpes and knowingly passing it on to her by having unprotected sex then I have no gripe with this. Stupid is as stupid does...so they say.

I guess it would depend on how much $$ the infected person has and what kind of lawyer they get.
