If drug tests are forced upon goverment employees, they should be forced upon welfare recipients.

I don't think they should be forced upon anyone, however.

Yea, I know, the current place I work in has never been tested either....But they are supposed to be....

No good. Unless you test 100% of the population then maybe, just maybe, one person will slip through.

And we couldn't have that, could we?

Actually the logic behind not drug testing welfare recipients is that its been proven to not be remotely cost effective, and the result has almost no economic or safety value (employees who take drug tests are almost always employed doing dangerous jobs or work for companies that engage in such work).

In fact, the actual only reason behind drug testing seems to be some moral conviction of the right wing, which is a ridiculous.

I don't think it's just a liberal thing. I think it's just a general thing. I hate the fact that I have to get random drug tests as if my employer swears I'm a coke head and they're trying to catch me in the act. However, I pay taxes so people, like a lot of my family members, can stay on welfare and have food stamps, but get high every other day.

Welfare recipients might not be employees, however they sure as hell get a check every month. So I think they should be tested once or more a month if you want this money. Atleast we know they won't be smoking it up.

I have to agree with those who note that this doesn't represent the views of liberals. It seems to me that their position is widely against drug testing period.

Why do fiscal conservatives want to start another huge government program like drug testing?

I view it as pretty silly, you go through one (or more) interview(s), the company decides they like you and want to hire you, and then tell you first you have to prove you're not a doper. It deems you guilty until you prove your innocence.

I can see it being required if your job performance/behavior gives cause but disagree with it as a screening tool.

I'm not liberal, (of course I'm not full blown conservative either) but I'm with you on this one. I don't support drug testing as it is extremely flawed. Reason being, it is always the pot smokers that get caught, because the THC sticks to your body fat. Yet one can consume a much more dangerous substance such as coke, or heroin on Friday, and pass a drug test on Tuesday. I am not against testing someone who appears to be under the influence, and if you're stupid enough to partake during work hours, then you deserve what you're going to get.

EXACTLY!

It's the guilty until proven innocent I take issue with.

And someone wants to smoke a doobie on Saturday and does a good job Monday to Friday, who cares?
