I am not pro-gun, but have them when I live amongst the insane (children, IMO, aren't a greater threat than emotionally challenged adults... you can educate the former).
You have a valid point. Not everyone should own a gun.
But, that brings up another problem. How do you decide who is emotionally stable and who isn't?
Aside from convicted felons, everyone of legal age in this country has a legal right to own a firearm. Who decides who the nutbuckets are?

Just another thought here.
If you have such great concerns about your personal safety, take the training and get a CCP. I have one.
I don't know what the laws are in Texas but here in Colorado I have the right to carry my sidearm anywhere with the exception of courthouses and police stations.
Granted, I only got it to cover my butt in case I go into town and forget to leave my gun at home but they're still good to have.
This has been floating around the gun boards for years, but I don't recall it being discussed here. We seem to have a lot of anti-self defense posters here, figured it was worth while to see if any of them had a problem with it.
Obviously, it's too many words for a bumper sticker or tee shirt.
I see a problem with it for the sign poster, though. If thieves wait until they aren't home they'll break in for the guns.
I'm thinking it would be better wordage on their "green" grocery bags.
Around emotionally damaged children, it makes even more sense.
Knowing what some of those foster children have promised the foster parents if they didn't get their way I think that maybe the parents should have firearms handy where the kids don't know about them.
I remember one of about 12 promising his adoptive father that he would kill him in bed with a knife making his pistol beside his head worthless. That kid is about 30 right now and should be in the pen for all kinds of crimes but murder isn't one of them. The step-dad gave in.

I have been of legal age for many years but never thought I could shoot another human and am not sure now, even in the world we live in. If I had a gun to protect my home from intruders what good would it do me if I had to argue with myself before squeezing the trigger? I guess I will never know until someone tries to force his way into my house and I am sitting there without a fire arm. That may be too late, but not shooting may be deadly, too.

If it was on their own property, there'd be nothing you could do about it.

I'm fairly certain that these signs don't actually exist. I've never, ever seen one and I've only ever seen that pic referenced as a joke.
What about emotionally damaged adults? Or, even adults who haven't been discovered to be emotionally challenged yet, or circumstances haven't put them to test?
Ultimately though, isn't it like not having a guns when there is an immediate need?
bio safe with a loaded semi-auto in it? Nope. It is like having a loaded semi-auto at your fingertips. I can reach my weapon just as fast as if it were in a holster. It comes with belt loops too.
Tell that to my 80 year old MIL who ran off a half-dressed intruder in the middle of the night with her mighty Titan .25 semiauto.
