It's all in interpretation of US export laws. Iran, of all countries, is high on that list.

Yet Apple will manufacture the i-series in China, a country that threatens us and our allies on almost a monthly basis, and let them sell them illegally as well as their knock-off's in Iran.

Well take that up with the USG. They are the ones with the forbidden to export lists, not Apple.
I'm in software. Each and every year we get training on US export laws and the forbidden countries.

How is it not discrimination?

They (Apple Representatives) heard the pair speaking the language amongst themselves and refused the sale. The customers are American Citizens.

Federal Law already prohibits the travel of electronic equipment to Iran without express permission. Apple doesn't need to discriminate based upon nationality or language(s) spoken.
