Obama made the claim back when he was first running for president that he would help end racism. A lot of people have called him out on that because of his blatant racially divisive actions and comments.
But in the end, it seems like his being elected was a good thing in terms of racial healing. In spite of the inept way that he has handled the presidency, just the mere fact that he was the first man of color to ascend to this office is a historical event in itself. Regardless of his own inability to lead.
It's too bad that he was not a better president.
But...maybe after all the ugliness and racial stuff of the current elections is behind us. Perhaps we can move forward.
