So you don't have any clue how that number was arrived at? Where it came fromm? Who did the study? What the criticisms are? Results of similar studies?

"According to local media, the bill was the handiwork of industry lobbyists and coastal municipalities who feared that investors and property developers would be scared off by predictions of high sea-level rises."

North Carolina Sea Level Rises Despite State Senators: Scientific American

And aren't "worst case scenarios" the very reason for planning ahead (or do you only pay attention to the "best case scenarios")?
BTW, for some reason, Hurricane Katrina and the underbuilt levees come to mind....

BTW, aren't "worst case scenarios" the reason for doing planning (or do you only pay attention to the "best case scenarios")?
And on the other side of the argument is going to be a bunch of envionazis, so what's you point?

In any event who is supporting what doesn't change the historical and present measurements.

No they are not, worse case scenario planning for almost anything gets ridiculously expensive.

First off, let's make it clear that this is from the Young Turks who are consistent in spinning things to meet their agenda.

Secondly, please go to 0:42-0:58

"Okay, so we have the normal Orwellian stuff, you're just not allowed to use certain words. And if the sea levels are rising, don't fix it, just ban people from saying sea level rising"

I bolded it so you can see the sheer stupidity of his line of arguement. Do you get it? Fixing the rising sea level is basically saying we should cool the sun.

Give him credit for matching tedious law making, with equally insane logic.

The legislature may ignore sea level rise, I guarantee you that insurers are not.

Unlike "worst cases" like say, New Orleans ("Katrina") or Fukushima (the Tohoku earthquake & tsunami)...?

I wouldn't call NOAA or the Scientific American Environmental extremists, ask the Army Corp of Engineers if building near the coast line is a good idea. I would be more worried about developers attempting to take science out of the equation for personal profit and at taxpayer expense.

New Orleans is in bowl, that will happen again. Might be this year, might be one thousand years from now but it will happen again no matter what measures are taken to avoid it. Water will go where ever it wants to go, you can slow it down but you can't stop it.

You're missing my point, you don't build a fifty foot wall to avoid this in the future. You might for example want to take reasonable precautions like having a water proof generators or house them in tsunami proof building -or- you could have generators available off site -or- if country like the US offers to fly them there immediately you might want to take them up on their offer.

Getting back to th topic you don't run around like the sky is falling just because one study suggests there (maybe-might-possibly) be an increase in the sea level rise especially when there is others studies that say otherwise base on current and historical data.
