If you go to numerous countries and ask them what they want from life, they list nearly everything that comprises democracy. If they are asked if they want democracy, the word itself is linked to Americans and they want nothing to with it. Americans are hated generally because we make people feel stupid in relation to us. In some countries I state I'm Canadian just because I know how much they dislike Americans.

Oh, maybe killing lots of people around the world for corporation interests has something to do with it.
Perhaps it's the boasting of being number 1.
We're number 1 in teenage births in an industrialized country.

Might want to look at the linked thread for some reasons:

Why do some people dislike the U.S. or think it's bad place to live in?!
From that thread:
There's serious "S you, I've got mine" culture that permeates the US.

Of course I can find these same things in almost every country. Well, not so much the laws against women and gays unless it's in one of the whackaloon middle-eastern countries, but the US religious are quite taliban-like.

What I see in the US is excuses, denial, "but we're better than Syria, Afghanistan" etc. To make a favorable comment, they compare the US with the worst of the worst. Sad statement, that.

My point is always to point out that the US is not this perfect beacon that many posters are making it out to be. We are not "the best" country in the world.
It's got its ugliness, too.
Unfortunately, most people in the US are in serious denial and seem to enjoy it there.

Personally, I think it's a pretty good country, but there are lots of pretty good countries out there.
Certainly, the hatred that is palpable in so many threads on CD, is not the US I want to live in.

Better question, why do some Americans hate America and still choose to live here?

Perhaps you are deeply confused?

It's really a 3rd grader mentality to conclude somebody hates something if they point its flaws and suggest ways of making it better.

Because conservatives who hate socialism in the United States don't have a less socialistic country to go to that is as advanced.

And liberals stay to make this country as communist as possible.

I would never want to be American, your politics are broken, too much control by the religious element, you poke your militaristic nose in other nations business constantly and love to start wars with nations much weaker than you...All in all your government's attitude is, we are the most powerful, so screw the rest of the world...As a whole you do not even care for your own citizens, so some are denied equal rights, and you have the audacity to call this freedom?

We have mucked around where we don't belong for our benefit. That's a big reason.

Oh, and conservatives aren't the ones who gleefully burn the American flag or attack members of our nation's military.
