There is a difference you know.
Do they even have the same societal goals?

Can they sit back and ignore a Muslim father killing his daugher because she wore makeup?

How much difference in culture is there between those nations? Not much.

You really have to take on the shared "cumulative culture" of the country or you will always be an outsider or have a split off state like quebec? Are Irish or Italians part of the "mainstream Culture" in America or are they a Sub-culture only?

Interesting perspective. Who controls this thought path? Even amongst different Europeans it has always been us and them with respect to new immigrants: Irish and Italians come to mind, followed by other countries. End goal to me would be to promote those who individually contribute to America, and do away with those who take away. It's really not based on family origin or ethnic group.

Another thing about Canada, is they generally employ their own citizens and I think they are more particular about who they let use their social services. So there might not be as much resentment against "others" mooching off the system, at least in comparison to similar sentiments in the states.

Their employers also seem to have a informal rule of preferring to hire someone with Canadian experience.

This used to ***** me off because during the Dubya years, I wanted to get the hell out this hole.

Still, looking back, it does make sense. A lot of immigrants bring a lot of baggage from where ever they're coming from. There ARE cultural differences, particularly for those coming from undeveloped/developing nations.

It goes back to "reasonable accommodation", if the culture and value system of the hoster and the hostee are just too divergent, then it will inevitably lead to problems between the two.

These are just my observations from living in the states, which particularly during the Dubya years, made getting a Canadian detox mandatory for my continued health.

What the f is "multiculturalism"? Is that some sort of code word for white supremacy? Does that mean you want all non-whites out of the country? What else can I expect from a bunch of Republicans...
