Rep. Jackson Jr. has been on a leave of absence with no explaination to his constituents or the public other than " exhaustion". Now it appears emotional problems may be coupled with his physical ones. Is this related to the House Ethics Investigation of his connection to jailed Fmr. IL Gov. Blagojevich.

Rep. Jesse Jackson owes us an explanation - Chicago Sun-Times

Quote:
“Congressman Jackson’s medical condition is more serious than we thought and initially believed. Recently, we have been made aware that he has grappled with certain physical and emotional ailments privately for a long period of time.

“At present, he is undergoing further evaluation and treatment at an in-patient facility. According to the preliminary diagnosis from his doctors, Congressman Jackson will need to receive extended in-patient treatment as well as continuing medical treatment thereafter.”
Does the above mean he is committed to a psychiatric facility or, is it something more serious, something untreatable? Since he is unable to perform his Congressional duties shouldn't he be replaced ?

“. . . My primary concern is that of my children. I just want to make sure that they’re taken care of and provided for.”

That’s sounds as if their father may not be around to care or provide for them.

If a man is battling an illness that is treatable, you would think his wife’s primary concern would be for his recovery.

Jesse Jackson Jr. faces tough primary against Halvorson - Chicago Sun-Times

Quote:
Nobody is predicting defeat for the incumbent congressman, who first was elected to the office in 1995 and has picked up 80 percent of the vote in subsequent elections. But polls show that two recent scandals — accusations that he tried to buy a Senate seat from former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and allegations of an extramarital affair — have taken a toll....

Yes we deserve an explanation, but my prayers are with him, along with Sen. Mark Kirk, who has been out for six months. I wonder how much these two being out is hurting Illinois politically.

You're going to pray for him? He's a chip off the old block. You're going to finally get rid of this dirtbag, hopefully Halvorson is a tiny bit cleaner. The 'investigation' has been going on since September of 2010.

His name quickly surfaced in the investigation of Blagojevich, convicted last June of a wide range of corruption charges including trying to sell the vacant Senate seat. According to the criminal complaint, Jackson Jr. supporters were willing to raise $1.5 million for Blagojevich if he chose the congressman.
Throughout, Jackson Jr. has denied any wrongdoing. But over the course of the investigation he acknowledged a relationship with a nightclub hostess he called a "social acquaintance." Jackson Jr. and Sandi Jackson have called the relationship a "private matter" and say they've dealt it with through counseling.

According to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, "mood disorder" is a broad term covering a variety of neurobiological abnormalities that can include a major depressive episode, bipolar disorder and catatonia.
