Happy anniversary, Roswell, N.M. It was 65 years ago today that the Roswell Daily Record blasted an infamous headline claiming local military officials had captured a flying saucer on a nearby ranch. And now, a former CIA agent says it really happened.

"I took the box down, lifted the lid up, rummaged around inside it, put the box back on the shelf and said, 'My god, it really happened!'"
Maybe the guy is just trying to promote his book, or whatever.
In my opinion if something did crash there it must have been very important and "different," just judging from how authorities reacted, and what the citizens and anybody involved claimed happened.
With all the confessions, who knows...
On other side it is kinda hard to believe that a advanced civilization who have mastered space travel. Crashes on a "primitive planet" in a thunderstorm.
So an agent can wander in a secured vaulted area and "rummage around". I seriously doubt that. Even with high clearance, there's going to be an escort or at least someone watching on a camera.
There's always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT! _ agent K
I think it's highly unlikely that anyone alive has first-hand, or even reliable second-hand knowledge of what fully happened in Roswell sixty-five years ago. There is probably some information deep within the recesses of long-forgotten classified documents; but all we really know is that something happened, which the US government felt the need to keep secret; and that the government has constantly changed the official explanation.
Given the time and location of the incident, it seems quite possible that it involved some type of all-too-terrestrial nuclear mishap...with the UFO story functioning as an effective cover story, by virtue of its relative absurdity.
I frankly believe no one knows what happened in Roswell. Even people that saw it with their own eyes. But that doesn't mean anything extraterrestrial was involved.
Of course it was an alien UFO! If there is an Earth-based secret you want to keep a secret, what better way to do that than to send the dogs hunting for UFOs and when they find it you say, "Oh, you got me..."
The really weird thing about the whole UFO phenomenon is that there is so much eyewitness evidence, but so little physical evidence.
I think it means two things, either
1) People have very vivid imaginations, and there has been a folklore that has built up over the decades
or 2) The phenomenon is real, but is of an ethereal, perhaps other-dimensional nature
I think if we can send probes, satellites, etc to other planets, maybe another civilization from some where else can do the same. Maybe that's what people are seeing in the sky.
I believe we are not alone in the universe.
So I kinda think it's a real phenomenon.
