Funny how Americans of the past who truly were dedicated to a particular goal for themselves would put themselves out to accomplish whatever education they needed. I know two of them who slept in phone booths and worked night jobs in order to pay for that education, themselves.

I know for a fact that government loans have allowed schools to jack up prices to unbelievable amounts because "the government will pay without questioning." Get rid of those government loans and fees come down. There are several other areas that need to be addressed, but that's for another thread. Those government student loans cause terrible problems for those young people starting out in life such as:

1. Puts the borrower into debt before they get started and takes years to replay

2. Puts people in Universities/Colleges who have no business being there. The majority of our citizens should be learning a trade. In the world of work, one can start at the bottom and work up. Many people I know have done that and with hard work, work ethics and taking responsibility for learning to accomplish advancement have actually started their own businesses and become extremely successful, both in their business and in their financial positions.

If you want to enjoy prosperity...you have to work for it and never, ever think someone else should "give it to you." Not gonna happen!
The largest reason for increasing tuition costs is states cutting aid for higher education, and less grant money from all sources, putting more of the tuition costs onto students, that's why they need loans.

No, I don't agree. Plenty of people compile scholarships and part-time jobs to pay to complete the education required for their chosen profession. Why didn't you?

I'm not devoted to the Federal Reserve. Far from it. Even without it, we can't print our debt away and print everyone out of poverty. Zimbabwe ring a bell?

Hysterical!!

Know lots of Jews like that, do ya? Just curious, but where do those "other Jews" get their money? From other Jews? So ya figure there's some uber-rich Jew at the top who passes all the money down, or what?

I didn't because law school is much more expensive than a public undergraduate college. It was obvious that a part-time job or even two part-time jobs would not be sufficient to pay for that, and I was unwilling to borrow in an environment of too many un(der)employed lawyers.

I did some research an found this from you, "That ONE job was the only IT-related job available to me. One of my jobs was as an undergraduate teaching assistant in comp sci, but this particular employer thought more highly of the other candidate's job."

So, what did YOU do to make yourself a "better" candidate"?

YOU CHOSE your major. MAYBE YOU should have done a little research on the job possibilities on THAT major BEFORE embarking on it.

We keep telling you people make choices. The choice THEY make determins their fate.

Rich get Richer and poor get poorer is not something new.

Job loss due to more automation and competition from other countries that are willing to work for less money cause lower class keeps getting poorer. This is exactly why increase minimum wage is NOT the solution for poverty.

The middle class will be slowly going down because the machinery that is replacing workers, lower salaries because of the increased social security.

The upper class is doing well and rising above everyone else because they are the ones who are thinking and selling their ideas to foreign countries who couldn’t think of them on their own. Plus, rich will always gain political power. They are the ruling class.
