This tax increase has not had a lot of press but it significantly more damaging than other increases which have had a lot of publicity. And the people it will hurt most are not the rich but middle income and poorer retirees who use their savings to supplement their social security income.
I will personally be hurt by this. I'm not going to go into detail but the hit is significant. I guess that is the penalty for working hard, being frugal and saving.
If Romney pledges to get rid of this he will get my vote and probably that of many others.
Romney's plan is not only to reverse the tax hike on dividends, but to actually eliminate taxes on dividends for those with adjusted gross income of less than $200,000 per year.
Obama has done nothing for the seniors. For the first two years there was no cost of living increase of their social security checks.. Obama and his Obamacare have taken 500 billion dollars out of medicare which means the doctors who see medicare patients will be paid less. This will have doctors refusing to see medicare patients because the government payout will have to be smaller.
Also anyone who thought that their savings was going to carry them through their old age think again.. the money in IRA's and CD's where most seniors put there money because of low risk, they are not getting any interest on their money because interest rates are so unbelievably low today. Seniors have been robbed in more ways than one. Any senior voting for Obama is voting for their own robbery.
The rate on CD's today your better off putting the money in your mattress after paying the fees. It is ridiculous. They will be after 401K's next just watch. I mean after all it's NOT FAIR for people to save money when others don't. Add in the payroll tax holiday which reduces payments to SS and the road is coming to an end even faster but hey if it buys a vote who cares.
I think O can do or say anything he wants and will get a pass from the American People and the media. We will elect him for four more years.

There's no reason why income you get from investments should be taxed at a lower rate than income you get from working hard. If anything it should be taxed at a higher rate. The deep and abiding contempt for actual hard earned wages should be the GOP's downfall. I'm sick of the Mitt Romneys of the world and their steadfast belief that any money they earn deserves a special wecial place in the tax code.

Are you saving for the future and hoping your investments increase in value so that you can retire and not be destitute ?
Because your contempt for the Republican Party, which is a virtual entity, shows that you don't care about the working class who directly invest in dividend stocks nor the retired base that rely on dividends to supplement their retirement income.
Mitt Romney didn't write the tax code that pertains to dividends/capital gains. Sorry to burst your bubble on that one.
And what happens when no doctor in the country will take medicaid?
