I guess I will have to mention again that Obama was never even brought up in this entire thread until some liberals decided to inject his name into it for some reason. Why they did that I don't know as they haven't answered. ARe you going to explain why you bring Obama into a discussion about fire dept in Florida? Somehow I doubt it.
Sure, as soon as you explain the parallels you drew between the Fire Dept being required to display the US Flag properly and liberals which have absolutely nothing to do with this story.

No, the didn't have to remove the flag. They were asked to display it PROPERLY. I'm guessing that doing so will take a bit of effort, what with all the paraphernalia already on a fire truck, so they haven't yet worked out the right way.
My father, a former Marine, and a very, very conservative, talk-radio listening, Fox News watching individual, would be the first person to take someone to task for displaying the flag improperly, and has done so. He knows how to display it in accordance with the code, and does just that. This is a fake controversy and really a sign of how silly everything has become.
No shock the liberals jump in wanting the flag removed from those goofy fire department trucks.
No shock that once you have demonstrated your unwillingness to look beyond the right-wing spin of this story that you're also willing to make up new stuff about who complained.

Ah, yet another thread in which conservatives take a minor story, make enormous unfounded leaps and feign outrage about how liberals hate America. Toss in a bit of lying about who said what and an inability to even read the thread and you've got your standard C-D foaming at the mouth liberal bashing thread.
Surely anyone with even a modicum of intelligence can read between the lines and deduce what's happened here.
Firemen desired to display a flag so they took it upon themselves to hang the thing willy-nilly in a window or attached to some part of the vehicle. They were summarily advised that it was incumbant upon the fire department to make certain the flag was flown in accordance with the rules of Flag ettiquette. The flag could be flown if attached to a standard attached to the bumper of the vehicle in such a way the flag would not come in contact with other parts of the vehicle or to a standard engineerd and permanently attached to the top of the vehicle.
Oooopsy; this requires some serious consideration and just drooping the thing off some already existing protuberance isn't acceptable so our intrepid firefighters put on their thinking caps and come up with ~ sheesh; our pumper is a flat front with no fenders so that's out. The bumper is attached to the very front of the vehicle so the flag would not be able to wave at all but merely be constantly plastered to the front of the cab so that's out. Well how about the roof; sorry guys but no one's drilling into the roof of a 1/2 million dollar pumper to screw a piece of vertical pipe to without specific permission.
What's that? The insurance carrier for our firefighteres and our vehicles are stating there may be an increase in liability due to that chunk of pipe on the roof? That's out. I know let's just hang the thing in a window a-la 1960's shagg'n wagon back door windows.

SEMINOLE, FLA - Florida fire fighters say the city apparently got two complaints about American flags being flown from fire trucks.
The flags were not a safety issue, and they were not tattered or torn. But when the complains came the flags were gone.
A dozen demonstrators stood outside a Seminole fire station waving American flags Sunday. They say they were there because fire fighters were banned from flying old glory on their trucks.
A spokeswoman for Seminole Fire Rescue said the city is trying to be sensitive about the proper display of the American flag.
Someone allegedly complained to the city about a large American flag being flown from the back of a ladder truck.
When it was removed, fire fighters say they were told to get rid of smaller flags flying from truck windows.
The demonstrators took to the streets after their complaints were ignored. They say they're trying to protect a tradition that started after hundreds of fire fighters were killed trying to save people from the World Trade Center on 9-11.
I wonder how long it will be before those same two go after the city picture of an obvious American Indian
done, I would hope, because of the name of the city.
You know once they get their foot in the door they won't likely stop. Hell, the city of Seminole will probably have to change their name once those two people get some more success at their whining.
