And if anyone here is naive enough to believe that greater concentration of Federal power is the solution, make your case now, or leave the stage to those of us who know better.

This video has started several threads.
I don't see why so many people are impressed by this.

Why are we using this fantasy written from Hollywood as a serious topic?

It's simply because conservatives quite passionately believe that it's wrong to turn to the government to do something about the decline of America as a free country. It would help to quit going to war to try to dominate other lands. History shows great countries can't stay sustain themselves by overextending themselves to other countries. Hitler sure found out how true that is.

Because liberals think it makes a good argument for selling America down the road. They don’t like what America is. They want a different America and that video in their minds will make others want what they want.

But the video is a lie. They don’t want what the video says they want. What they want is an America that is disengaged from the world, is just a player on the stage along with all the other nations in the world and where the federal government controls every aspect of daily life. The trade off is you get 80 vacation days that you can stay home and watch Maury Povich on and get to go to the dr when you have a sniffle for free… just don’t get really really sick because then the death panel kills you.

Conservatives have no problem with the government shrinking itself and getting out of the way of people who make jobs in this country. Problem is the government we have now and particularly Democrats do the exact opposite.
The war argument is ridiculous. We go to places over our interest and we only keep enough land to bury our dead where they died to help out or defend this land.
We overextend ourselves at home.
Get people off social systems who are not old or disabled. Make the help for others never go past a few months.
Quit the overextension of government employees which have swelled from 1-100 in the 60s to 1-9 today. You have to fire 90% of them back into the private sector.
The government employment welfare is unsustainable as is their outrageous pensions. Had the people known their politicians were giving away the future to unions in government as they did those politicians would have mostly been recalled IMO.

Canada fired tons of their government employees, they reduced the expected pensions, they got rid of many on their dole and are also looking into changing their dysfunctional health care system. Even Canada gets it.

Me too. Will McAvoy just comes across as completely arrogant in that scene, IMO, to think he can talk to another human being like that, regardless of his politics and opinions on the U.S.
