My question is this. Why did it take so long for someone to realize this needed to be done?
Well, at least one president finally decided to block this blatant misuse of funds.
This is a direct consequence of the government wanting everyone to feel loved and experience no stigma for using food stamps. So what do they do? They give them the equivalent of a credit card thats unidentifiable and useable in places that don't even sell food. And we wonder how such abuse was able to take shape and prosper?
FOOD STAMPS SHOULD HAVE STIGMA!! MAKE THE CARDS BLAZE ORANGE WITH BIG BOLD "EBT" LETTERS IN THE MIDDLE!!

I don't agree with that. I would not want a hardworking person who has temporarily fallen on bad times to feel even worse for needing help from a system they paid into.
OMG! The states will be forced to change their laws! It's another part of the Obama conspiracy to create a socialist state!
Let's see if those GOP Governor's so concerned about Washington dictating to the states fight this usurpation of their state's rights.
It would be funny watching Scott, Jindal, Walker et.al, proclaiming that they will take this to federal court to stop the overreach of the federal government.

You would have thought that this would have already been the law.
"Depending on the state, welfare recipients who violate the rules can face jail time, the loss of their benefits and fines ranging from $25 in Washington to $2,000 in Maine. Merchants can be fined or lose their business licenses. Some of the states that have joined the trend say they have no figures yet on violations."
So you get fined and head on back over to the ATM and withdraw some more free money to pay the fine. Yippee. I'll await the first person put in jail for trying to pay for a lap dance with their ATM. Hell I need to go to a strip club I guess it's been too long. The dancers have swipe cards now? Where do they keep em? lol
