That person is 50 years old. It was ABC news misidentifying someone. I heard on the radio that at least 4 people in the town had the same name.
ABC should fire that reporter for such shoddy journalism.

Stephanopoulous and ABC were already humiliated going down this route. What other media outfit wants to destroy themselves today?

So shooting blindly at a gunman shooting blindly in a crowded movie theater with people running around is a good idea?

Your examples are so far from similar it's ridiculous. The theater had hundreds of people in it, was dark and the gunman was actually shooting without warning.

The other had no shooting involved other than the old man shooting at the perps.

You are comparing apples and car tires here.

Interesting that I didn't hear you shame ABC about their false lead into the tea party.
Haven't even heard about it. I've been dealing all morning with a potentially dying dog.

And no, the shooter is not necessarily an academic. He was attending a professional school.

Don't forget the theater was also filled with tear gas.

More people at the theatre means more potential CCW holders and a more dangerous environment for the assailant, except that Aurora is gun free, so no worries about anyone being armed.

He was a Ph.D. student in neuroscience, not a med student or "greedy doctor" as the UHC retards call them. He is an academic.

My Ph.D. is in computer science, but I am published in journals and conferences. My profession is "professional", but I am an academic.

Not sure what you mean about this not being a "crime-related shooting". BTW, there is plenty of bloodshed in the hood that is senseless and random. No one is calling these people psychos or mentally disturbed though. We have names like thugs for them.
I get what you're saying. I guess the perception (right or wrong) is that shootings in gang territories are meant to intimidate and keep control in that area, or for retaliation--they're random, but they do have a purpose that's crime related. When the gang territory variable is taken out, all you have left for a logical reason (if there can be a logical reason) is mental illness. I do understand why the automatic assumption that the guy is mentally ill because he's white upsets you, and I hope I didn't offend you. That wasn't my intent. I do get what you're saying--that violence in inner city neighborhoods can just as easily be because the shooter is sick, but he gets called a thug instead.

Regarding Loughner, he did have a bit of a history according to those around him.

That's just one, there are quite a few more links referring to his mental stability before the shooting.

What is wrong with this , a man walks into a crowded MultiPlex dressed like a night commando or ninja with at least three guns one apparently an assault weapon. The theater is showing the hotest movie in the nation this summer and it is the first showing so I bet the place was packed. The guy waltzs right in and then shoots at least 50 people and at the present time a reported 14 dead with the chance for more since another 18 are in critical conditions. Security is only effective if its being done caring, thinking individuals not disinterested low wage people doing it as a second or third job! Apparently the crackerkack Aurora police were at the multiplex to show the flag and crowd control. I assume they know about metal detectors out in Colorado we use'm out here in the East Coast megaopolus and they pronanly use'm in Crazt places like California. What was the problem here, didn't the screener know the little flashing warning light wasn't just there for show? This is so wrong on many levels . Did they think this guy was a normal person who was doing either a bad Batman imitatiuon, had a crush on Catwoman or something harmless because he was at least a white guy. Just how hard is it to carry a AR-16 into a multiplex. I guess it is not so difficult in Colorado.
