He wasn't exactly trying to fit in. When the police apprehended him, he was sitting in his car behind the theater.
Go to Youtube and search "Aurora Theater Shooting", the first 18 minutes from the police scanner chatter for this incident are there. Parts of it are heartbreaking.
The Aurora PD did an amazing job, responding in less than two minutes and saving many lives.
He was caught because one of the SWAT members noticed his gear was a little different. He had one more piece that the SWAT teams don't wear, because it is too restrictive.
He was by his car but not sitting in it.
The more that comes out, the more we learn about the facts.
Listen to some of you. What kind of quality of life is that where every person is armed and ready to kill the next person..for what ever reason? Let's say homeboy is waiting online at 7 eleven and a cop sees his piece...if the gun is illegal, he gets arrested. The act of even buying the gun can get you arrested. That's taking a leap into criminality that many people would never take.

The difference is that when you buy illegal guns, you are actively breaking the law. That is a stretch that this lone loser may never have crossed it he couldn't just walk into a store and buy it..you think this guy was going to meet some guys in a back alley to buy guns? I doubt it.
Guess he'll just have to stuff gunpowder or chemicals and make some improvised grenades, or douse a portion of the theatre floor with gasoline before the people arrived and just strike a match. That and he can buy an AR/AK pistol illegally and stuff it in his coat.

Many people who are scared of living life just because people are legally carried are the same kinds of people who support the Patriot Act and other laws that exchange liberty for a little more perceived security. Get out and live life. Don't hide in your basements.

The logical leaps you guys will go to due to your gun fetishes is astounding. If you need power in your life, get educated and do something positive. Sitting there stroking the cold steel in a death fantasy is not giving you any power, even though you may think it does.

CONTINUED: Here is my personal attitude about cops- I love them- respect them- support them- You must think of yourself as a king or queen- and that the cops are your trusted servants...That they are your own private hired guns. Cops need to be treated well- and they will take care of you- They are not your enemy.
