Not quite. The rate of violent crime in 1965 was about 200 for every 100,000 people. In 2009, it was around 480 for every 100,000 people.

I disagree. It is not common place. It may seem to be because when it happens, there is extensive coverage about it on TV and radio.

And guns do kill people. It's far easier to kill someone with a gun, than to stab or hit someone. No physical contact is required and it's much harder to emotionally prepare yourself to stab someone to kill them, in comparison to pulling a trigger.
Well, if you think banning guns would help; it wouldn't. It would mean that only the criminals will have them. Also, see post #29.

Thankfully most called "losers" are docile and won't harm anyone but some go off the deep end.
If mommy and daddy tells their kids how special they are and rewards them regardless of their achievements are you surprised that some of these kids get really frustrated when they realize the world doesn't have the same attitude towards them?
When you raise your kids in a bubble they are going to be dissapointed when they meet the world.

Speak for yourself re land of mass murder and serial killers.

If guns were taken from gangs and drug users would quit financially supporting gang members, the stats would be dramtically different.

If you do pot or other hard drugs you are the problem and the resaon my freedoms keep disappearing.

Go pass stricter gun laws and you will find MS13 and other gangs will continue as always.

Crazy happens in a densely populated country.

Remove guns and you can still buy gasoline and nails....and a lotcheaper than a gun and more indiscriminate.

Countries where there is a gun control policy such as Mexico and Brazil are among the most violent in the world.

Get real.

Banning guns would not help. The Colorado Shooter had a gun in a gun-free zone. It didn't stop him. We all know that criminals actually care about following the laws.

We have had guns in this country since the founding and nothing like this has happened. The problem is a lack of morals. Liberals like to teach the "if it feels good, do it" philosophy. Then, they cry about the Ten Commandments yet is it really such a bad thing to teach kids "Do not murder?"

I have go laugh at those wanting to ban guns. It won't work. Prohibition never does. Those who would go on rampages or commit various crimes with them will continue to do so. However, the honest citizen is now left unarmed against those criminals who don't care it's illegal. It won't work. You live in a fantasy land to think banning guns would help.

This is happening everywhere. We just don't hear about it because it doesn't affect us directly. Except for natural disasters (which do affect us) when was the last time you heard about news from...say....Lituania or Poland or Laos? The only time Americans hear news about other countries is if there is some way that *someone* in this country can make money off of it.

In case you don't know this...there are lots and lots of murders in Africa when people are attacked with machetes. People don't need guns to kill each other, you know.

Violent crime has decreased quite dramatically since 1992.
