The bottom line is that they've gone overboard with all this multicultural BS! What in hell is gonna be next? Verses of the National anthem sung in Spanish(God forbid) at major sporting events!

SHOWS A WHOLE LOT OF RESPECT FOR AMERICA

If your article is in fact "true" - why must there be a need for Spanish applications for employment; why was Telemundo ever created? Because I think that your "population reference bureau" article is biased and part of the never ending propaganda to lead Americans into believing what's on paper vs. their life experiences with immigrants. While I believe that people do not have to lose their culture just because they live in America, I do believe that they should respect the people and languages spoken here and NOT DEMAND that things be written/taught/printed in Spanish. It is my opinion based on the actions that I have seen first hand that there is a lack of respect or appreciation for America. This is no attack on those illegals who came to this country legally in an effort to afford themselves a better opportunity - I am speaking of those who BROKE THE LAW to come , those who feel that America OWES them something and finally those that feel that there is ABSOLUTELY no need to learn English - and there are many of them - and most are recent immigrants. Believe me, I've lived in heavily immigrant populated cities (i.e. Miami; Houston; Washington DC). All the elder Koreans and Asians in DC did not know English very well but their children were fluent in both their native language and English. The children did choose to speak their native language at home because of the Elders, but when away from home, they were just as fluent in English.
Some refuse to assimilate. Many more do not. And the vast majority of second generation immigrants do. Hate to break it to you, but those are the facts, which come from research, not from your gut. Meanwhile, while I don't agree with the upside down American flags in those protests, it wasn't really reflective of the majority of protestors I saw last March. And its typical to take pictures of the worst offenders and try and paint the entire crowd in the same light. I'm not a big fan of that.

And I noticed, those American born children (your words) you included in the first photo were holding signs in English. What could be more American than protesting a law you disagreement - in English, no less? Isn't that what we ask of our citizens in a democracy?

Anecdotes may not be the right word. But your personal experiences can be distorted from your own biases. It's always better to look at empirical data to get a more accurate understanding of a situation.

I give up, of course their signs are in English - duh they want all Americans to be able to understand what they're saying. Not to mention, DID YOU even read the signs - exactly the mentality that I spoke of Disrespect - because they feel that this is their land.

You posed another question "what could be more American than protesting a law" - uhhhhhhh how about walk and wave the American flag That's not a lot to ask. Flaunting your Mexican flag around DEMANDING sh*t from America, in Spanish nonetheless - No sorry, I can't see the logic in that and it's odd that you can?

Although this comment wasn't directed at me, I feel the need to make something very clear. I AM NOT at all biased against Latinos or any race for that matter. I just call it how I see it, I've spent countless years around Latinos, even been mistaken for one There is a HUGE difference in the early immigrants (great grandmothers/grandfathers) as one poster clearly stated. I have talked and worked with many of them for years on end, gotten to know their families - so my comments are based on EXPERIENCES reaching far and wide. Even some of the great grandparents say that their sons/daughters/grandchildren HAVE NO RESPECT. While having pride in your heritage is one thing - DISRESPECT is something different. While asking a country to allow you to stay is one thing - DEMANDING it is something else and calling it RACISM is way far reaching. The bunch making DEMANDS on America is the same bunch making it bad for those law abiding Mexicans/South Americans or other legal immigrants and creating the divide.

As far as your emperical data is concerned, we're talking about real life here; real issues affecting Americans, not some data conjured up by some man who we don't even know much less where his data derived from. The fact is, jobs in heavily latino populated cities are requiring candidates to be bilingual (WTF is that about)? There wouldn't be a need for a candidate to be bilingual if your "emperical data" was accurate. Not to mention diminishing the "little" resources meant for American citizens (regardless of their original nationality).

I could go on and on, but it's obvious that you just don't get it. Reading your posts almost makes me think you're some college student majoring in political science.
