Jesus Christ may have said of the future of ritual marriage- "They will not be given or taken in marriage but will be like the angels" Sounds like Jesus believed in love between a man and a woman..and believed lovers should be together..but - is sounds like marriage sanctioned by the state - church or tribe would be a thing of the past- It was Paul who made the social arrangements for marriage - He had a lot to say about maintaining the institution...mostly it was about fidelity.
