Wow just wow! You've paid for their defense? WWII was it? You need reminding that by the time you had changed your thinking from Joe Kennedy's and Lindbergh's "it's not our war"; Britain had already staved off actual invasion by winning the air war. Since then you haven't fought one battle or incurred one cost for defense of anyone other than your own business or geo-political interests.
Here's a thought; one could easily argue that the boogyman in the room we all needed hypothetical defending from was created by YOU! Here's another; you haven't won a war since Korea and that one is still a draw to this very day so how was it again you defended any other country from anything, oh wait, I know, you restored Kuwait to it's ownership by oil-rich Shieks ` well done on that!
Bank bail-outs; oh my, this from the citizen of the country that insisted on deregulating the banking industry, lowering mortgaging rules and instituting senate forced compliance by at least two of your major mortgage houses to provide mortgages to people who could not afford to buy a home.
Through that aforementioned de-regulation YOU allowed the formation of risk based equities to be sold like so much used toilet paper on the world market precipitating the biggest melt down since the depression but somehow those Brits are performing poorly?
Deflection of the first order my fine deluded friend.
While Britain lauded it's national health care program publicly for all to see, I find it strange the only nation to find that objectionable is the one who will allow it's own citizens to face bankruptcy, or even worse, because they cannot afford their prescription drugs. 2012 you say?
What reasoned, intelligent people were offended? The only person I have heard complain is you. As one poster accurately stated, this is not a political issue in the UK, they all support it. It is only political here. The world does not revolve around U.S. RWNJs.
No, there was another. That person admitted that they had not actually watched the ceremony but they complained anyway.
Britain has every right to be proud of their universal healthcare. Find one person in England who would trade it for the American system. Just one.
If you ever can find that one person, rest assured they will be every bit as crazy as your typical Teabagger in the U.S.
Of course they do.
Watching the ceremonies last night, reflecting on all of the contributions clearly evident through the centuries, I couldn't help thinking that we really are still something of a backwater compared to the UK.
In the simplest terms, they are simply farther along the evolutionary scale than we.
Hoping we get just the slightest bit closer in my lifetime.

Pot meet Kettle.
Please know that not everyone here finds the idea of national healthcare objectionable. There are many Americans who agree with you 100% on this point. The problem is there is a brick wall in Congress known as the Tea Party that absolutely refuses to let us move out of the 19th century.
Why would the Brits resort to "propaganda" to advocate for universal healthcare? They already have it. They are obviously proud of it and the people that work within its system. It's propaganda from the right in the USA that is making a big deal of a non-issue such as this.
BTW...I'm sure that their healthcare system has benefitted their homegrown athletes and the ones of the future.
Indeed.
Imagine the freedom of being able to concentrate on one's sport knowing that should the need arise one is covered and will be treated no matter what.
What a concept.

You're obviously a socialist. I mean a Communist! No, wait, maybe it's a fascist! Damn, I can never keep all these rightwing talking points straight...

Sounds like you had a bad experience in the American healthcare system. I hope you got that taken care of.

Wondering: if people actually believed that they would get care, perhaps they wouldn't be reduced to such nihilistic lifestyles.
