Wow..so the DOJ will step over the line regarding religion. What happened to separation of church and state ?
So now blasphemy could be considered a legal crime ? Sounds very "Middle East" to me ....
Actually, in several States blasphemy is still on the books. The last person to be charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced for blasphemy in the US was Abner Kneeland in 1838.
It seems to me that the DOI (Department of Injustice) is full of people who can't answer a yes or no question with a simple yes or no. I have seen this very thing happen in Committee meetings with the head man, Eric Holder answering the same way and being told that he is a very poor witness because he can't answer yes or no without riding around the block a time to two.
You failed to see that, didn't you?
Failed to see what? The question was about ALL RELIGIONS. Regardless of what his answer was -- yes or no -- it would have applied to ALL RELIGIONS.
To say that Islam was getting special treatment either shows the OP is an idiot or a liar. Anyone agreeing with him is in the same boat.

Regardless, Mr. Perez's refusal to answer such a simple question is rather disturbing. Can you offer some justification for the DOJ's position that they might criminalize free speech against religion?

Well if nothing else at least we got some good trivia out of this thread.

Well then, sounds like Holder's DOJ has legal grounds. What's the punishment..stoning ?
Let's go full multicultural and EMBRACE these cultures and laws.
We already have US citizens in hiding because our government cannot protect them even though what they did (cartoon) is not illegal here.

Abner Kneeland served sixty days in prison for blasphemy. The judge described him as "a cantankerous and inflexible heretic."
And STILL the DOJ statement did not say what the OP wants it to.
