Others aren't there because they're not wanted. Former President George W. Bush is a good example. Both the former President and Vice President have something else to do during the GOP convention. I don't know if that's ever happened before. With the Team Obama trying every day to link Romney to Bush (a clear linkage if you look at his staff and ideas), they'd be happy to trot ol' George out as a rebuttal if they're weren't so afraid it would be a disaster.
