I read this quote from the Health Outcome section of the Comparsion of the health care systems in Canada and the United States. The quote reads:

"In the World Health Organization's rankings of health care system performance among 191 member nations published in 2000, Canada ranked 30th and the U.S. 37th, while the overall health of Canadians was ranked 35th and Americans 72nd."

I always heard that the Canadian health care system is terrible because it puts too many patients on a long waiting list for surgery or even a simple check up.

Can someone please provide a link that gives unbiased facts on how both health care systems work, or can you please in your own words break it down for me. I really want to understand this topic a lot more. And also give me your opinion on the matter, who do you think has the best health care system? U.S? Canada? And if its another country tell me which one and why?

Thanks

Having talked to many Canadians including relatives... They say they fired tons of government employees, got lots of people off the dole and are now going to tackle changing their socialized medicine because of the limited care and high costs.

They hide the cost of the health costs in things like the price of gas and so forth. There is no free.

As soon as we reverse Obama Care USA will again be superior. If we can limit lawsuits and access to trial lawyers it will get even better.

Canada doesn't have a national health care system since each province is responsible for itself though the feds do provide transfer funds to help out. I'd much rather have a hybrid national system like the Japanese, Dutch, or French use.

Nobody goes to Canada to receive superior healthcare like they do US.

Canadian Premier comes to US for heart surgery

What is a hybrid national system? How does the health care of those countries work?

I was born in Canada and my immediate family moved to the USA when I was in 3rd grade. 95% of my extended family still live in Canada.

So when my Aunt desperately needed heart surgery, the Canadian system in Ontario told her it might be years and they'd try and treat the symptoms instead.

Eventually, my Aunt went to Buffalo, NY and got the surgery she needed or she'd be dead now. The doctors in Buffalo told her she wouldn't have made it "years".

England's system is worse than going to a veterinarian!

They've even cut costs by turning bed sheets and pillow cases inside-out instead of changing and washing them!!!

People have pulled-out their own teeth because they couldn't get a dentist!

There are various ways to work things but usually everyone in the country gets insurance from the national insurance company but each individual can pick any private provider they wish. It has the advantages of low costs due to the company having the widest possible insurance pool (everyone in the country), health care providers only have to fill out one one page form instead of the average of around 50 pages we currently have in the US (which the bill agent submits), medical records are always instantly available no matter which hospital you go to, and the coverage is standardized with very high coverage.
