The "emergency" measure is intended to help farmers and livestock producers affected by the drought by propping up prices. For instance, a cattleman would be paid 75% of the market value for his dead cows and 60% of his feed bill in counties officially designated as being in drought conditions. Orchard operators would receive payment for the costs of trimming his trees or preparing the ground for new trees if his have died.

Nowhere in this bill is crop insurance mentioned. I know a lot of cattlemen and some farmers, and they ALL have insurance against droughts for their crops and livestock. This $385 million of YOUR tax money would be, in essence, a payment ON TOP OF insurance payments! In other words, a windfall at YOUR expense.

As usual, the GOP preaches fiscal responsibility, then drains away your tax dollars while you're not looking.
Sounds like a more worthwhile expenditure of taxpayer money then $500 million on just one company - Solyndra

Exactly right!!! These false flags are really getting annoying. The only thing progressives seem able to do is drum up more disingenuous talking points. The House has been attempting to stay in DC and postpone the holiday. It's the Democrat saturated Senate which adjourned in mere seconds this morning, doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they were saying they wanted to do just yesterday.

On Thursday, the Senate voted to adjourn by unanimous consent. But the House did not, voting 265-150. All 187 Democrats who voted cast nay ballots - coupled with noes from 78 Republicans to defeat the resolution.

Standard operating procedure for this bunch of losers!

Let's talk about the 42 shelved jobs bills the House has sent to the Senate. You know, the Senate which hasn't passed a budget in 4 years.

There's nothing in this legislation about food stamps.

No, let's talk about the GOP mantra of fiscal conservatism, then compare it to this $385 million.

Yep-

Stop the farm subsidies and let food prices skyrocket. That will help those of us who own farmland in the long run. I am all for it.

The first to complain will be liberals, who will be shocked at the food prices they must pay.

The corn crop feeding the cattle will be highe cost , sending beef prices much higher.. and then the ethanol will take the corn crop into disaster using it to produce gas.. now isn't that stupid. A box of corn flakes will be five bucks but a gallon of gas will be a few cents cheaper.

It gets even better. The US is holding steadfast with its promise to export corn; they are not making any changes to how much they plan to export. Americans are SECOND in line for corn..after the exports.

How's that for globalism ?
