Why the special treatment?
I guess ALL homosexuals need Special Treatment, it's called reparative therapy.

Neither group deserves "special" treatment.

Gays deserve rights that are equal to those of all American citizens.

Gay illegal aliens deserve a one way ticket back to where they came from.

Since DOMA has been ruled unconstitutional by so many courts now, doesn't it make sense to put a hold on deportations of people who, when the stay of these rulings is lifted, will have the right to be here legally?

But hey, I'm fine with equal treatment the other way too. I say begin immediate deportations of all foreigners who are married to American citizens - straight or gay.

What does DOMA have to do with illegal aliens?

It prohibits Federal recognition of any same-sex marriages between immigrants (legal or otherwise) and their American partners. In every other major Western democracy, even those that don't have full marriage equality, same-sex relationships can be used as a basis for "family reunification" residence permits. But not here.

An opposite-sex couple consisting of a U.S. citizen and a foreigner can simply get married, and the U.S. citizen can then sponsor his or her spouse for residency. A same-sex couple doesn't have that option.

The gays facing deportations are only illegal because of DOMA.

DOMA says gay couples in the US - no matter if legally married or in a civil union in their state - can access the 1100 or so federal rights that are given to married couples in the US. DOMA bans gay people from having those rights.

So if me and my roommate here in Manhattan travel to France and we both fall in love and get married to a French women (in his case) and a French man (in my case), his wife is automatically entitled to a spousal green card, but my husband is not and will be deported if we try to make our home back here in New York.

Do away with DOMA and my husband is now entitled to a spousal green card and is not longer here illegally.

Didn't Obama give the order that criminals were a priority on deportation? When did being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender become a crime?
