It wouldn't surprise me if this jerk actually wins a lawsuit against the cop.
Actually, if he was in the process of getting a citation, he was not "free to drive away any time he wanted". It's a detainment, he's not free to go anywhere until that contact is completed.

How do you detain an inanimate object?

As the driver of the car, he is not free to take that car anywhere until that contact is completed.

The driver wasn't present when the contact was made. The cop was writing a ticket for the car he wasn't citing the driver. :dubi ous:: dubious:

That doesn't make a difference at all. If the driver shows up after the fact, it doesn't somehow nullify the initial parking violation. Where are you getting this information from?

The kid is a punk and a poser - regardless of whether or not he actually paid for that car, and regardless of whether or not the cop was a douche.
You buy a quarter million dollar car and get your panties all twisted up over a parking ticket?! = you're a poser and should trade it in for a rice rocket. It'll leave you more money for Ed Hardy attire.

I didn't say that the parking violation would be nullified.

it's amazing how some people will try and defend flagrant violations of the law. This guy's a ****ing punk, you people defending him probably ***** and moan every time you get a speeding ticket instead of just slowing down a little.
