How many people die from alcohol related deaths? Ban beer!
How many people die from drug related deaths? Ban drugs!
How many people die from automobile accidents? Ban autos!
This is fun!
Depends on what you mean by alcohol. Most alcohol deaths come from long periods of abuse, kind of like eating to much all your life.
Again, how is this a comparison to mass shootings? No one is suggesting outlawing all guns. Remember, alcohol sales are restricted by federal law.
The drug war has killed far more people through prohibition then have ever been killed by the use. Like alcohol during prohibition.
But again, most folks think drugs like Meth, crack, and other drugs should he illegal even if lighter ones like pot are legalized, because they are to dangerous. Kind of like miniguns are to dangerous for most folks.
And now back to cars. Yes, people die from car accidents, but again, there are driving laws, the kind of cars you can drive are limited and made to have safety standards.
So you oppose any gun legislation or any reform at all? No one is trying to outlaw all guns. Your debate shouldn't be about bad and false comparisons, it should revolve around guns, themselves.
I actually don't wannt all semi auto weapons banned, I think its a silly idea. But being ridiculous comparing cars to guns, or consensual sex to guns, is just silly.
Want to debate guns? Do that. Ill likely be on your side. I wont be with silly comparisons like rainbow farts to lawn darts.

Relax Francis. I am merely using tongue-in-cheek with the escort deal, but it is consistent (and ironic) for someone who's supposedly well versed in law to suggest an illegal trust as a means to deprive citizens of semi-auto rifles.
Eliot's idea is suicidal for any gun manufacturer who listens. The bulk of their business is private citizens. What he is proposing is literally corporate fascism through developing a "trust" of companies with the government. Trusts are deemed illegal.
Spitzer should have banned escorts considering his political career was destroyed by a honey trap.
I would like to see the 1934 Federal Gun law repealed. I want to eliminate any and all gun registration. I do reluctantly approve of the background check for concealed carry permits but not for purchases.

My point exactly.

I can tell people like Greg mean well when they advocate "for the people" because, even though I don't agree with his 90% graduated income tax approach, the intention he has in his proposal is to put power back in the hands of the people. It seems very consistent with his pro-gun stance. It's much more consistent than authoritarians who like to ban drugs xor (exclusive-or) guns.
When they created DFW Airport the Govt forced all the airlines to abandon Love Field and move to DFW. A great TX capitalist and entrepreneur named Herb Kelleher saw a golden opportunity and co-founded a start up airline at Love Field and named it "Southwest". They refused to move to DFW and the Govt slapped restrictions on Southwest. Today they are the most profitable and successful airlines in the US.
The moral of the story is that there would be someone that starts a gun company that would not do business with Uncle Sam. They would not be held hostage to the Govt pressure or restrictions where others would. In a few years, they might even be the largest and most popular gun maker in the US.
Last I checked, none of those things were designed specifically to kill people, in multiple numbers, with no other designed purpose.
The intended purpose for many assault rifles is to be a "safe queen", never to be opened unless it's to show it off for display. For some, it's general plinking, for others, it's home defense on a larger property, like a ranch.
Who are you to designate what the primary use of a gun is? What if I told you that the primary purpose of a Porsche 911 was to outrun police officers?
Why are you advocating what the left call "corproate fascist right-wing policies" by using taxpayer money to try to manipulate the selling habits of gun manufacturers?
