I think the police have used plate scanners for a while now. It was only a matter of time until they started linking things together (like the movie Eagle Eye). I find this disturbing, but the reality is that this type of technology will get better and as it does people will use it.

You mentioned that the authorities would now be watching what we "eat and drink," and since I first heard the wingnut claim that Michelle was going to outlaw candy bars, I just had to go there.
