The men in the news story were career violent criminals in the act of committing another violent crime. Please tell me what crimes an unborn baby or fetus has ever committed?

Especially if you are foolish enough to choose a gun store to break into and try robbing.

It wasn't robbery. It was breaking into a guy's residence. Guy has no idea what the robbers wanted to do.

Re-read the whole news story. The store owner lived in the store with his wife when he heard the van crashing into the store. He grabbed his weapon for protection and went to check it out. When the robbers saw him, one of them ordered the others to kill him. At that point it isn't an execution, it's self defense. Case closed.

The robbery of a gun story and the threat to kill the shop owner elevates the charges significantly from "robbery". Stopping the successful robbery of this gun store likely saved many other lives down the road.

Goodwin had a previous felony arrest for burglary and grand larceny.
Repeat felony offenders with no indication of stopping their criminal activity. They chose their path in life even after being given another chance out in society. They took their chances and lost.

Clue: Gun store owners and their staff are not only armed but know how to use them.

I agree. By then those 3 issuing a kill order turned from mere criminals into enemy combatants. Combatants don't get executed, they either win or lose. Don't expect our resident Canadians and American gun banners to understand that concept, though.
