I had to show my ID this time when I went to vote. It took about 5 seconds extra then I went to stand in the long line that took half an hour. It's no big deal.
In that 5 second glance they were able tell whether or not you had a valid id? I don't think so.
Perhaps Barack Obama should issue a Government mandate requiring all Americans to have an approved form of picture ID before they can exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Thats funny, when you put Barack Obama's name on it, it doesn't sound so good anymore?

Sounds loke youre willing to help all of the 600,000 to a million texans that don't have photo ID's.
No, just him. But I did contact the president of the local League of Women Voters this morning and she is going to see about sponsoring a group to help people get IDs that need them to vote. She thinks some of the local churches will help and also gave me the name of a minister who serves in an area that this might be a problem for. I want voter ID but I don't want eligible citizens kept from voting.

I can't believe it took that long to get to that point. There is no invalid reason to not have an ID because having a photo ID is not a requirement of citizenship. Period.
For a bunch of self proclaimed freedom lovers, there are a lot of authoritarian "papers please" opinions being espoused in this thread.

Then your bank isn't following the law... I worked in the banking industry for 15 years and every new account had to have some form of ID presented by the opener of the account. Didn't necessarily have to be a drivers license, but you have to prove who you are. This is part of the FEDERAL banking regulations...

How are the online banks doing it? The one I opened an account with did not require any kind of physical id?
Maybe some people do not want to have an ID card. Why should they be forced to comply with this unecessary edict?
