This is what happens when you decide to put your career and financial fate in the hands of others instead of your own. Had she done what is necessary to become financially independent by starting her own business at some point in the last 30+ years (and making it successful), she wouldn't be having this problem.

I feel bad for her, but not that much. She had 30+ years to prepare for the day when the job market is in the toilet.

Why,just why, is the answer always"start your own business"?

She probably would be in the same boat.
How many new businesses fail after a year? 90%?

Really... most Americans are too scared to start their own business. If they do, it's something along the lines of Amway. I have a business that ekes out a small income. My corporate job pays me the most, but the outsourcing makes it harder and harder to find a contract or perm job. The economy has a huge hole in it's hull, and the trillions of stopgap dollars that the Fed keeps printing cannot fill it much longer. Huge service cuts must be made because our tax dollars can no longer repay the rich slave master banks that rule us. When that happens, look out.

Yeah, now they're saying it's going to be 1.8 million new work visas.

Not only did NAFTA and so-called "free-trade" export many millions of jobs, essentially anyone in the world can compete with Americans for American jobs here in this country.

It really is being done to bring wages down and also to destroy the American middle class. Yes, some people can always manage to hold a job -- but not everyone has it as easy as some of us, there are people who are a little slower, less quick to learn, not as strong -- but they should be able to also work for a living.

And the politicians simply do not care what becomes of these American people. They'd just as soon give them welfare handouts to keep them content enough but if the money runs out, the politicians really don't care.

I feel very bad for ANYONE who wants to work, who is willing to work, who needs to work but has been outsourced by their own government. Not everyone has an IQ of 150, not everyone has the know-how to build a business, not everyone can manage employees, financial sheets. It's really not how Obama put it when it comes to starting a business -- it takes a lot more than he believes. Many businesses fail.

And in this economy -- a great number of businesses fail. What kind of business should she have created that would have made her financially independent -- especially if millions of others were doing the same thing? Many would not make it.

Anyhow, she was probably one of those who trusted government, who believed the lies of the politicians. Remember when the liars insisted that NAFTA and sending jobs to China would lead to more and better jobs in the USA? Well -- they all knew that wasn't going to happen, but they convinced the naive and gullible.

At one point she was so desperate she took a job where she was making the decision about what dogs to slaughter at an animal shelter. Approximately 85 percent of the dogs at the shelter ended up being killed, and she was working about 80 hours a week doing this. The really sad part is that she really loves dogs....
Was her job labeled "Hope and Change" or "yes, we can"?

Canada couldn't say no?

Canada entered into a treaty you don't like and its America's fault?

Age discrimination is practiced daily in every business in America. Also the judges and legal staffs have made it almost impossible to sue although the practice is illegal.
