Yes, it was easier during the Republican administration but not because of the Republicans. The economic collapse hadn't fully impacted and outsourcing hadn't yet completed it's course of eliminating American manufacturing jobs.
Obama had a majority in both Congress and Senate for two whole years. You can't deny that.

Whether an individual finds it easy to get a job depends on their job skills and the jobs available where they are. However overall unemployment statistics are a better picture of on aggregate of "how easy" it is to get a job. And there the Bush years were better; no question.
I don't think the roots of the current depression were political, though. They are structural and have to do with the housing bubble (which was, actually, global, as is the economic decline), globalization, etc. Political policies don't start or end depressions like that; they can make them worse or less bad ,though.
I graduated in May 2001 and let me tell everyone, regardless of the unemployment rate, it was very hard to find a job. And after 9/11, forget it! I didnt get a good job until 2006 and I had to take a much lower salary then I expected.
And yes, we have been in a recession since 2000 and the "recovery" under Bush everyone keeps talking about is a blip in the radar. So we were crap from 2000-2004, good until 2007, and then crap again until today? Sounds like a prolonged recession with a real estate bubble right in the middle.
It's much easier now for the 2 million illegals who are being handed their new work visas to get a job here now with Obama giving them everything they want, including what's left of our jobs.
You sound like you have been chumped. Just because a foreigner gets a visa it doesn't guarantee a good job.
Obama is getting a lot of criticism for not doing enough to fix the economy... and rightly so. But seriously... was it really that much better when Bush was in office? I struggled for a year and a half after graduating from school, unable to find a job, eventually settling for something far less than ideal. This was in 2004 and 2005.
I think it's just tough to get a job no matter who is in office. How much better do Republicans realistically expect things to be if Romney wins?

Not everything is controlable by a president and not only did Obama inherit a tough situation, so did Bush and so did Clinton etc.
There have been numerous financial gains etc. bubbling the US economy along under both parties....for decades. Deficit spending, loose credit, stock market etc etc etc.

Have a look at official unemployment rates, historically (you can plug in dates)
The only other time the postwar unemployment rate got as high as during this depression was in 1982/83, and that didn't last as long. But there was a definite rise in late 2001 and incomplete recovery to the pre-recession low in unemployment.
When you join a political party you become responsible for what that party stands for. The lack of morality of the Democratic party is what I left about 10 years ago. I could no longer look the other way from the party platform.
The Democratic Party has destroyed itself and it is now trying to destroy America. I want no part of that corruption on my conscience.
