Political correctness and common sense are polar opposites.

Ironic you use Bill Maher as an example, because he hates political correctness:

A parallel example - you are driving down a road with no speed limit signs of any kind, no indicator of schools, residential, etc that would give you a clue on general speed guidelines, and for one 20 mile stretch of road, here are 5 local police who each have their own idea of what "speeding" amounts to, and every day, they all change their mind on the actual number. So you drive 35 mph, and you get pulled over for it. Not only does today's officer say you're speeding, but so far over their individually determined speed limit that you are reckless driving. Oh yeah, and they set the BAC they consider driving impaired to 0.00%, so you're also DUI. You may be thinking "WTMF?" at that moment, and rightfully so.

That's how PC works. One day, this thing that was totally innocent and innocuous is now heinous and vile, and a single individual got to make that determination, and now you are guilty of what until this moment was never a crime. It depends on the individual whims of unhinged, emotional hypersensitive reactionaries, and somehow becomes accepted "unwritten law of the land" as fast as these snowflakes can dream up new ways to be permanently offended.

Nobody knows the rules ahead of time, and those who seek to be offended take anything done/said and turn it into a reason to be offended, thus to punish to actor/speaker. You say the time of day, what I hear is you marginalizing anyone who doesn't own a watch..BAM..gavel pronounces you guilty of microaggression, off with your reputation's head!!!
This. Is. Awesome.

If we move to the point that the PC "offenses" are known to all, enforcements against them are agreed upon, and no one is ever surprised, that will be even worse.

>>>> Bill Maher was all about political correctness. I never got the title of his show since attacking opposing viewpoints isn't really being politically incorrect, its just being partisan. I took it as kind of a joke. Maher is a misanthrope which I guess isn't politically correct. But it also make shim an ass.

It makes it IMPOSSIBLE to make good decisions. Remember when we couldn't say radical Islamic terrorists because we might hurt Muslims feelings? Switzerland just passed a law requiring restaurants to electric shock Lobsters to death before boiling them because they may be able to feel pain while being boiled alive, lol. PC seems to be a tool of the marxist left to silence people with opposing views. It allows truth to be labeled insensitive or racist it's complete non-sense we need to be able to legislate based on fact.

California made it illegal for employers to ask applicants what they make or have previously made because it may hurt their feelings. So now employers in California are concocting ways to indirectly ask them. Political correctness makes no sense at all, it breeds insanity. And PC makes people unable to question stupid laws like this because IF you question it you're obviously a heartless person who doesnt care about the poor.

Nothing except when it interferes with correctness, for which it is usually substituted.
