California should hire Mexicans like the rest of America for farm labor.

If they worked in the fields, they would not need state assistance. They would be earning anywhere from $111 to $216 per day. Whether or not they get paid overtime is up to the company that hires them. Agricultural workers are exempt from federal overtime laws, but some companies do pay overtime anyway.
Have you ever met or had a serious discussion with a migrant worker, about their lives and working conditions? They will tell you story that if you have any heart or compassion at all will bring tears to your eyes.

Where did you get this $111 to $215 a day? What f**kin planet are you on that migrant workers this kind of money. In most case migrant workers are lucky if they get $30 dollars a day.

Your entire post is out of line with any measure of reality that most migrant workers face.

That will also mean that a lot of Americans will end up going hungry.

Migrant workers can make pretty good money in Arkansas if they don't mind dealing with chickens.

The prisons are full of able bodied people. Seems like a simple solution. Put shock collars on them with GPS trackers and correction jolts if they get out of line. Time for these guys to start earning a living.

Isn't the free market great!

Prices will rise and then they can afford legal workers.

Not if you're a felon. You cannot vote and the cops can walk into your house anytime they want and turn the place upside down. For the rest of your life.

Why don't they put to work the people who make a living collecting welfare & food stamps?

Or has been previously mentioned use the huge labor force that is locked up in the CA prison system....

You wanna eat? go pick some veggies...

No they can't, that's only if you're on probation/parole with a search clause.

And why would you pretend to care about their wages when it's you who wants to bring in the entire third world to compete with them and to bring wages way down? You're on the side of the cheap labor employers, you're no Cesar Chavez.

Why would they when people are pouring over the border glad to work for $5 and hour with no overtime?

Cesar Chavez and the UFW wanted to better the conditions and pay but he was intelligent enough to realize that the growers were bringing in illegals to keep wages down and to destroy the UFW and they did.

There is no shortage of illegals in California whatsoever. The problem is that even illegals don't want to work these jobs when they can live so happily on food stamps, Medicaid, WIC and so on.
