A party platform is like a guidebook for the party and its leaders to follow. It can't be dismissed. Apparently, Romney and Ryan are just doing an act for the public when they say they disagree with certain parts.

You have hit the nail on the head. Romney will say whatever it takes to become POTUS as if he's a kid promising his parents he'll do his homework and eat all his vegetables just to get that new bike. Obviously, the GOP taking their marching orders from Wall Street and Corporate America will run the show.
