A party platform or platform is a list of the actions which a political party, individual candidate, or other organization supports in order to appeal to the general public for the purpose of having said peoples' candidates voted into political office or the professed opinion(s) proposed as part of law(s) or otherwise made into social policies.
But not any longer. Not according to Reince Preibus. Earlier today he said the platform to be approved by the GOP National Convention next week is the REPUBLICAN platform, and not necessarily the platform Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will run on.
In other words, how stupid do they think we really are?
So, then Romney/Ryan aren't Republican's. Or they're not and just using the ruse to fool Republican's by accepting their nomination and their money, but not their values/beliefs/platform.
A harbinger for things to come from Romney/Ryan? I think it's a pretty good predictor and shows that they're liars and empty suits. More so than normal Republican's...oh wait...that's right. They're not Republican's.
Does what the RNC Chairman said make sense to anyone?
That makes sense ONLY IF the party's insiders do not consider their nominee as head of the party, which would be unprecedented and would clearly show that Mitt Romney is superfluous to their agenda. In other words, an empty suit, a pliable front man for corporate interests.
Does what the RNC Chairman said make sense to anyone?
There has never been a presidential candidate, of either party, that has endorsed every single proposition in his party's platform. In fact what always happens after the convention is that the platform is shoved into a drawer where it gathers dust for four years until the pointless exercise of platform writing is renewed at the next convention. So what Priebus said is nothing to wet your panties over.
This isn't some foreign concept - many Democrats do not have to agree with every plank in their own platform (and they don't). But of course, in our new age of super information dissemination and lack of research, people's brains have tuned out history and only allow sensationalized news stories or blog posts to rule their world.
There are things in the platforms of both parties that Presidential candidates don't always agree with. And they often speak about that. However, this year ...the troubling fact regarding the GOP platform is it seems clear Mr. Romney will endorse and support it in its entirety.
