Now I know that Democrats will accept anyone into their fold who agrees with more spending, higher taxes, more regulation and Christian bashing. (mind you, no Muslim bashing is allowed if you're a Democrat)

I'm just asserting that most Atheists are Democrats. I haven't looked for statistics yet, so if anyone has some, feel free to put them forward.

However, I have heard that most Atheists are Democrats. Go figure.

Could that be because the Democratic platform more closely conforms to their beliefs? You know, that religious laws and morals shouldn't be legislated?

Founding fatherss said the same things.

Or could it be because of the way atheists are despised by so many in the GOP?

Most Jews are Democrats too, and btw a huge number of Christians are as well... so I guess only the Republican party is unwelcoming to people of different beliefs? If, in fact, what you claim is true. Wouldn't surprise me, considering Republicans are generally the ones who propose Christianity as an official religion, and use the (Christian) Bible to argue legal issues.

Exactly. Just like non-whites the GOP loves to attack atheists so it's no wonder none of them vote for the party which hates them.

Begs the question, why are they despised by the Grand Ole Party? I'm not sure thats true, but I'd like to know why you think that is the case.

If the GOP is able to create more jobs for Americans, why would an Atheist give a damn about their own perception of being despised?

A perception that Democrats are asserting.

Don't you think that Atheists are smart enough to figure that out for themselves?

I've met a fair amount who are libertarian-leaning, myself included.

There are a lot of secular conservatives, even on this forum. I'm not sure your premise is accurate.
