Don't worry about society so much, worry about what you're doing.

Rich men cheat, have married young women, people have been obsessed with celebrity, etc for a long time now.

Nothing new here folks.

Is it really as bad as I think?

In my idea of a perfect world, recycling and responsible consumerism would be mandated.
Sex would be viewed as sacred, and done with just one special person. Teen porn, cheating, group sex and that sort of thing wouldn't be so popular because adults would have better morals and not feel it's right.
People would stop relying so heavily on fossil fuels, with everyone switching to alternative energy to get around, even if it does cost a little more. Algae biodiesel would be developed and made the norm.
Cigarette corporations would go bankrupt.
People would view their own bodies as sacred, appreciating the lives they were given, not filling it up with trash like Diet Coke and fries.
Parents would not beat their children.
People would not eat meat or seafood, because obviously it's making a big negative impact on the world, not to mention it's unnecessary and is an act of blatant cruelty and lack of compassion.
Sports would not be making so much money and garnering so many viewers. Because there are much more interesting and useful activities besides a bunch of macho men throwing a ball around (hello, this is 2012).
People would get the brains to stop believing in some religion or other, instead focusing on simply being intelligent and loving, and making positive contributions to society, not worrying about some man in the sky, believing that praying to him will actually do anything, or having 50 prostitutes after death if they engage in a suicide bombing.
It would be mandatory that people not have more than two kids. Or better yet, people would be more careful about contraception use in the first place, and not have kids until they're actually fit to look after them (i.e. through with university at least and with a paying job so they won't have to rely on welfare for help)...as well as not having more than a couple kids because they actually are aware of the strain more people puts on the earth.
Bolded: Please tell me you don't want this mandated. As long as the person is over 18 it's no one's business.
Adults have the right to have an open relationship.

Good list overall but I don't agree with all of it.

Okay, there is a lot to list. I will break it up into groups.

Sex: It's always been like this since the beginning of time. Hence why there are 7 billion people on this planet. Humans like to have sex. It's innate. As long as the sex is consensual and is not damaging psychologically and physically, what's the harm with threesomes or non-monogamous relationships? As long as all parties involved have a clear understanding of what/who they are doing (again no harm physically and psychologically) there is no need for shaming. If it is not consensual (children are too young to understand the implications, thus not truly consensual) or damaging in any way...then there is a problem. Men with power and status have always had their pick of mates...it's called natural selection.

Also in some countries that are poor, having more children helps while the country is in transition. More children means a larger pool of resources. People in the west don't understand that larger families means survival into old age. As these countries modernize, people can have fewer children. Look at Europe's population charts. Now that it is part of the first world, there is no need to have large numbers of children.

Social issues: People have always been rude/kind. People have always gawked at celebrities. Don't believe me? Why is Shakespeare still read? He is a celebrity in his own field. As long as we had class divisions, we've had celebrities to gawk at. You mention college being a place of drinking/etc. Yes. It's called experimentation. It's a crucial stage in life. No, not to go too wild, but rather to assert your independence. In doing so, you will make stupid mistakes that you *hopefully* will learn from. I'm glad I had parents that understood this fact and told me the benefits and dangers of things rather than simply condemn actions without explanations.

Drugs: Again, there have always been drugs. In fact, animals know which plants contain materials that will make them a bit loopy. Our brains crave novel experiences. As long as we do not harm others or ourselves (it is possible to do some drugs without causing great harm to yourself or others), then there really is no problem. A joint on the weekends or a drink is not going to cause harm. However, drinking to excess every night or doing harsher drugs that can harm others or yourself is obviously a clear line. Part of the problem is the lack of discrimination in our legal system between hard and soft drugs. Also we simply prosecute without and place people in jail instead of helping those in need. This would help communities that are still struggling with the repercussions of drugs.

Sports: What's wrong with sports? I think it's odd that you disagree with fastfood and want people to treat their bodies as temples, but then deride sports. No it may not be intellectually challenging as you would like, however, it serves a purpose as to have people participate and be active. Not only that, but it motivates people to learn about competition. Competition is a good driver to do your best. Incentives of "winning" work better than incentives of "middling" and "averaging". While this obviously has its faults (as the 1% winning and taking too large a share) it also encourages innovation. Sports is not glorified simply for sports sake, but also for the larger meanings and themes behind it.

"Sex would only be done with a special person". That's all fine and dandy but what about those who can't find a special other? You want to take away their porn material leaving them frustrated on all accounts?

And I like my coca-cola so bite me I don't want to live in your *perfect* world.

Just another over sensitive prude whining about people messing up his crystal pure world. I would advise him to just not look for things that offend him.

Okay, guess I'm an oddball. Maybe I should break off and form my own community in the middle of nowhere. Oh wait, that's not an option.

But really, you guys are all saying that's human nature. I don't buy it. We have evolved over the millenia and I think we still have a lot of evolving to do. I think people are too sloppy in general. We're well-equipped to practice cleaner ways of living if we feel compelled to. Just accepting things as they are, being apathetic, and going along with the state of affairs is what propels the systems forward.

So-called human nature isn't working for us.

I can understand people having crap morals if they live in a slum like Nairobi Kenya, where it's either be a prostitute/thief or your children starve to death, but here in the first world we have plenty of options. All these young girls turning to selling their bodies as a means in US, Canada and England have little excuse, when there are plenty of good honest jobs all around.

Ok, berrycurious, your dream world looks like my nightmare. But, that's ok because I am assuming you are not up for an electable position and your opinion is just that. But, my jaw dropped at the "mandatory to have only two children". I am assuming that you live in America and I have NEVER heard any American ever say something like that! There are really people, in a free country that believe that it would be ok to dictate how many kids you can have? I'm floored. You could knock me over with a feather right now. Are you a Communist? I'm sorry, I just don't get it. This is AMERICA!! I don't even know what to say. I'm sorry, but you just don't make any sense to me. You don't want animals to be killed, but you fussed about Romney being pro-life. Being pro-choice would go along with your belief about controlling the population. But, is your belief in abortion to control the population or for women's right to choose? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm not getting your line of thinking.
