Ever been through the TSA line in Atanta airport? Chicago? Los Angeles? They throw laptops down, do the "finger-poke", the "eye-roll", and my favorite...the "talk to the hand".
I'd like to see you cite the study that concludes most government employees are rude.
Hmmmm, I suppose as a single person I can't have my own opinion, I have to have a study tell me my expiErEncEs?
I would guess most of the people that voted in this pole are young people without many years of dealing with the various sectors. I have noticed as I got older, the rudeness was more evident. Being older than 75+ I have a lot more expierence than the average poled and the public sector is definately the most rude and the most rude was the democrats. IMHO ( It may be easier for me to determine than most people as I was born half democrat)
My experience with the unemployment office years ago was pretty much the same....and yes I am easily to get along and very polite....so do you ever wonder if that type of behavior is encouraged ......or at the least why is it condoned?
Do you both live in the same state? Isn't the unemployment office state run, not federal?

Unless you've interacted with every single government employee, then no, your experiences do not validate your claim that "most government employees are rude."
I have found Federal workers quite nice..and all fire/law quite nice
the only ones I have found to be rude, would be those at the DMV and at the department of social services(state and local levels).....oh and a lot of public school admin sections are quite rude too...teachers ok, but the admin section is quite rude

hmmm...I travel all the time, and have never had any problems from anyone in the TSA
Never have encounted a problem, but then again, i believe in the statment, treat them with honey, not vinegar. And as always, be polite, and respectful, and you may be surpirse.
However in saying that, there are some individuals, who should not be working with the public, because they have a bad-arse attitude, no matter how nice you are.
They are miserable, and being nice and polite, will not change that. For the most part, if you show respect, and are polite and sweet, the person will respond back.

Except he doesn't have to interact with every single employee. All he needs is a good sample of government employees and judge it from there.

Oh, you think he got a good sample? I'd like to see his peer reviewed paper on the subject that shows he followed proper empirical formula for sampling purposes.

A typical example right there! LOL
